System Requirements to use IMS.Direct On Demand Video Remote Interpreting (VRI)
IMS.Direct provides On Demand VRI utilising a technology platform called StarLeaf Breeze which is a free-to-use to enable video conferencing and calling between our Interpreters and Clients.
Please see specifications and instructions below that are required to access the software:
Your PC/Laptop will need to be running either Windows, Mac, iPad, Android, or Linux.
Minimum and recommended system requirements:
You will need a Webcam and a microphone in order to utilise the video conferencing platform.
USB webcam or built-in camera that is available in your PC or Laptop (An example USB Webcam would be Logitech C920 1080p HD USB webcam)
Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2 (recommend an Intel Core i5 or later). Content sharing and/or video functionality might be restricted with older, low voltage or ultra-mobile processors.
DirectX9 with pixel shader 2.0 compatible (recommend a DirectX10 compatible card)
- Windows XP (Service Pack 3), Vista, 7, 8 and 10
- Mac OS X, 10.6 or later or iOS 6 or later
- Linux: Ubuntu 14.04 or later, openSUSE 13.2 or later, Fedora 21 or later
- Android 4.4 or later (with support for OpenGL 3.0+)
Recommend download and upload speeds of 1.0 Mbit/s for High Definition video conferencing. Content sharing and/or video functionality might be restricted at speeds below 384kbps.
Enabling Pop-Up window in Web Browser:
This MUST be done prior to attempting to accept or book a VRI call (Linguists and Clients)
Most web browsers incorporate pop-up blocker. You can enable pop-up windows either by disabling pop-up blocker or put in thebigword website https://thebigword.ims.direct/ as trusted website in the exception list.
